Exemplification, at the request of William dc Brantyngham, of the following inquisitions : 1. Dated at Byre 8 July, 49 Edward III, and taken before Walter . Cyfrewast, escheator in Dorset, by oath of Angtell Moigne, John -Mourton, John Person, Richard Pudele, Robert Scot, William Bradeford, John Stote, William Shephurd, Henry Person, Walter Hokyer, John Garlek and John Deyere, who say that John de Keynes, knight, held the day he died the manor of Combe Keynes in that county, now in the king's hands by reason of the minority of John his son and heir, and held by the knight service of one knight's fee, and it is worth 10 marks a year, that John the son died 1 May in the year aforesaid and that Wentiliana, his sister, daughter of the said John de Keynes, knight, is his next heir, aged twelve years. 2. Dated at Orxeshulne Monday after SS. Peter and Paul, 49 Edward III, and taken before Thomas Walshe, escheator in the county of Warwick, by oath of John Raulynns, John Harryes, William Lamperey, Richard Bate, Thomas Boneton, John Watcote, Nicholas Colvill, John Bate, John of the Chambre, John Taillour, John Shirleye and Thomas Radewey, who say that John son and heir of John Keynes, knight, whilst a minor in the king's custody, held of the king the day he died the manor of Oxeshulne, co. Warwick, containing a capital messuage of no yearly value beyond reprises, a carucate and a half of land of the yearly value of 13s. 4d., rents of assize 67. 10s, meadows of tha yearly value of 26s. 8d. and pastures of the yearly value of 5s., and that he died 9 May, 49 Edward III. Also that he held two virgates of land in Oxesholne of the earl of Stafford by knight service and two pounds of pepper, parcel of the said manor; also a pasture called Merstonthornes in Oxeshulne, of lord le Botiller by knight service and one pound of pepper, parcel of the said manor ; that Wentiliana, his sister, is his next heir, aged twelve ears. 3. Dated at Swyndon, co. Wilts, 20 January, 49 Edward III, and taken before Oliver de Harnham, escheator in that county, by oath of Matthew Chanew, Thomas Canyngges, Walter Gilberd, Thomas Weston, Robert Chaumb[re], John Andrew, Peter Harald, Laurence Horder, John Tokkenham, Henry Walsh, John Wade and John Jones, who say that John de Keynes, deceased, son and heir of John de Keynes, knight, held in his demesne as of fee in Puryton, co. Wilts, the manor of Keynescourt of the abbot of Malmesbury, by what service they know not; that it is of the yearly value of 10 marks, that he held no other lands in the said county, and that Wentiliana, his sister, is his next heir, aged twelve years. 4. Dated at Warrewyk, Monday after St. Denis, 49 Edward III, and taken before Thomas Walshe, eecheator in the county of Warwick, by oath of the same jurors as in No. 2, substituting John Athall for John Watcote, who say that Wentiliana, sister and heir of John son of John Keynes, knight, whilst a minor in the king's custody, held of the king the day she died the manor of Oxeshulne, co. Warwick, wherein there is a messuage, etc. [as above, No. 2], that she died 20 September last and that Elizabeth, sister of the said John de Keynes, knight, is her heir, aged fifty-four years. 5. Dated at Crekkelade, co. Wilts, 26 December, 49 Edward III, and taken before Oliver de Harnham, escheator there, by oath of Robert Chambre, John Andrew, Jobn Deghere, John Dorsete, Thomas Mowere, John Heose, John Ferour, Laurence Hordere, John Tokkenham, Thomas Canyngges, Matthew Chanew and John Harvest, who say that Wentiliana, sister and heir of the John de Keynes whose marriage and the custody of whose lands, from heir to heir, were granted by the king to John Beverle, held in Puryton the day she died the manor of Keynescourt of the abbot of Malmesbury, which is of the yearly value of 10 marks, that she died 24 September last, that Elizabeth, her aunt, sister of the said John de Keynes, knight, aged fifty years and more, is her next heir. 6. Dated at Northampton, Saturday before St. Margaret, 60 Edward III, and taken before John Carvell, escheator in the county of Northampton, by oath of William Musecote, John Baily of Grendon, Richard Danvers, Peter Filtz John, William de Sutton, Henry Michel, John Gilles, William Maister, John Muscote of Flore, Philip de Quinton, William Frenche and Thomas Deyster, who say that Wentiliana de Keynes held no lands or tenements of the king in the said county the day she died, but that she held the manor of Dodforde, co. Northampton, in her demesne as of fee of John, duke of Lancaster, as of the honor of Leicester by knight service, that it is of the yearly value of 401., that she died 10 September last, that Elizabeth, her aunt, sister of the said John de Keynes, knight, aged fifty years and more, is her next heir. Dated at Northampton, Thursday the feast of St. Thomas the Apostle, 9 Richard II, and taken before William Thirnyng, John Bodevyle, John Catesby, and John Tyndale, by oath of Thomas Grene of Sudburgh, William Muscote, Nicholas Lovet, John Waundell, Richard Toucestre, John Josep, Henry Hertwell, John Toucestre, John Bosonho, Nicholas West, John Baily of Cranesle and Thomas Deyster of Boseyate, who say that Elizabeth Keynes, deceased, held no lands in the said county the day she died, and that Margaret, late the wife of William de Wotton, is her cousin and heir, viz., daughter of Laurence de Ayete, son of Lettice, sister both of Robert de Keynes, knight, who died without heir of his body, and of William de Keynes, knight, father of John de Keynes, knight, and the said Elizabeth, and that the said [1.
