Whereas the king by letters patent lately granted licence for the glienation in mortmain by Oliver de Bohun, William Hoyvill, Philip de Hyngeluede, Christiana Stary and Thomas de Medmenham to the prior and Austin Friars of Winchester of three messuages, containing 80 perches in length and 60 perches in breadth, in that city, for them to build a church and habitation thereon; Richard Wyke, Agnes, his wife, Thomas Biflet, Christiana Grom, Peter Derston and Elizabeth Waryn have now made petition to him setting forth that Thomas de Medmenham departed this life before he had granted his part of those messuages, which contained 6 perches and more, to the Friars and praying for licence to assign certain portions of their places in the city, not exceeding 6 perches as is said, in place of that which Thomas should have given, and the king, for 1 mark which they will pay him, has granted their petition, on condition that these portions be included in the number 80 perches long and 60 perches broad, and the number be not increased by them and saving to the chief lords of the fee their services.
