Exemplification of a charter of Henry III., dated Merton, 24 January, 20 Henry III., inspecting and ratifying A charter of king John, dated Werul, 19 July, 1 John, by which that king grants that Robert, earl of Leicester, and his heirs, shall . Paar II. 459 have and hold of the king and his heirs all their lands and fees, with all their liberties and free customs, free and quit of suits of shires and hundreds, of sheriffs aid, whether taken by hidates or carucates, of money given for murder and theft, and of frankpledge moneys; and further grants to them tol, them, infangethef, sok, sak, exemption as to their demesnes from pontage, passage, toll, pedage, paisge (paagio), stallage, tallage, geld, danegeld, stangeld, blodewyt, frithwyt and day works at castles, walls, bridges, parks, ditches, causeways and houses, and that they shall have their free chace of Wysseley and Wymberholt, and venison in those woods, which was adjudged to them by lawful knights in the king's court at Westminster, in the first year of his reign ; and lastly that the woods be quit of waste and regard.
