Letters patent, dated 4 June, 1 Richard LU, inspecting and confirming a charter, dated 4 June, 5 Edward LI [Charter Roll, 5 Edward 111, No. 46), inspecting and confirming the following : (1) A charter, dated at Hereford 1 November, 19 Edward I. [Charter Roll, 19 Edward I, No. 7.] (2) A charter of William Marshal, earl of Pembroke, being a grant that any man residing unclaimed for a year and a day in the town shall become free ; and that no one having occupied a tenement in the town for that period shall answer concerning it without a writ of theearl. Burgesses may sell their burgages freely except to religious ; and they are granted other privileges. Witnesses: William Crassus, steward of Pembroke, Henry son of Gerold, Jordan de Saukevill, Guy de Cultura, William de Wideworth, Ralph Bloet, Pentec[ost] the clerk, and others. Membranes 10 and 9 (8) A charter of William Marshal, sometime earl of Pembroke, dated at Strigull, VI. Id. Sept. 8 Henry III. Witnessed by John de Erlega, Ralph Bloet, William Crassus the first born, Hamon Crassus, John de Erlega, the younger, and others. (4) A charter of William Marshal, sometime earl of Pembroke, witnessed by Sir G. bishop of St. David's, Sir John de Erlegia, Sir Adam de Rupe, and others. (5) A charter of William Marshal, sometime earl of Pembroke, granting, amongst other things, that ships entering Milford shall be unladen only at Pembroke or Haverford. Witnesses : William Crassus the first born, Henry de Braboest, Ralph Bloet, Hamon Crassus, Bogo de Kenovill, Pentecost the clerk, and others. (6) A charter of Gilbert Marshal, sometime earl of Pembroke, granting them freedom from toll, &c. in all his lands in England, Wales, Ireland and Scotland. Witnesses: Sir Walter Marshal, Anselm Marshal, William Crassus the first born, Stephen Baucan, steward of Pembroke and others. 2. A charter, dated 19 December, 9 Richard II.
