Inspeximus and confirmation, of (1) an Znspeximus and confirmation dated Stratford, 7 June, 51 Henry III. of a charter by Roger Bertram of Midford to Hugh de Eure of the manor of Crekellawe as in demesnes, homages, wards, reliefs, escheats, villeinnges, with the homage and service of John Benet for the tenement held by him within the bounds of Crekellawe, with all easements as in moors, turbaries, marshes, mills, ponds, waters, ways, paths, warrens, and other places within the town at a rent of 6d. at Midford to the custody of the said Roger's castle there, and for doing the foreign service of the king for the said manor in the town of Crekellawe, as much as belongs to the said manor, with all other services, customs, exactions, suits of courts and mills, other things and demands whatever. (2) Inspeximus and confirmation dated _Westminster, 28 October, 52 Henry III. of a charter whereby Roger Bertram, lord of Midford, quitclaims to the said Hugh for his homage and service the homage and service of John de Warincton and Constance his wife and the heirs of the said Constance for all the lands held by them in Bereuike, Pikeden and Edington, and elsewhere in the county of Northumberland; the homage and service of Roger de Dreynes and his heirs for all the lands held by him in Claverdon und elsewhere in that county ; the homage and service of Robert de Merevill and his heirs for all the lands held by him in Milneburne and elsewhere in that county, with all services belonging to tho said homages, with wards, reliefs, marriages, escheats and other things, and so that they do suit at the said Sir Hugh's court at Creckelaue and do the ward and walling (wardam et clausturam) which they have been accustomed to do nt the castle of Midford and at the park of the town there, or pay him the value of such work, at his election ; saving the suit of the said John and Constance and the heirs of Constance, Roger and Robert and their heirs at the mills of Midford and Elandon; at yearly rent of a barbed arrow at Christmas for all services, customs, suits of courts, scutuges and secular demands.
