Suffolk, and fixed poles there, which is not permitted without licence of the abbot or his bailiffs, or, in times of voidance, without licence of the king; and, moreover, heat John de Barewe and Ralph de Wyveston, the king's bailiffs of that abbey, who had taken pledges from them to make fine for such trespasses, took away the pledges, and for the first time subtracted from the king toll and such customs as are wont to be paid on merchandise coming by water to the said town.
