Whereas the king by writ commanded William Ludlowe, esquire, late sheriff of Salop, to summon John Mason of Appeley by Welyngion, co. Salop, yoman, Thomas Blakeman late of Appeley, yoman, and Roger Coke of Appeley, page, servant of Thomas Chorleton of Appeley, 11. 11. gentilman, from county [-court] to county [-court], until they were outlawed, if they appeared not, and if they appeared, to take and keep them, so as to have their bodies before the king on the octave of Michaelmas then next to answer touching divers felonies and trespasses ; and the sheriff summoned them four times, to wit, in the county courts held at Shrewsbury on Thursday before St. Barnabas the Apostle, on Thursday before the Translation of St. Thomas the Martyr, on Thursday in St. Peter's Chains, and on Thursday, the Decollation of St. John the Baptist, 21 Henry VI, and they appeared not, and because no more courts were held, nothing was done thereof; and now the sheriff has shewn that, because a court could have been held between the said feast of the Decollation and the day of the return of the writ, and so the said John, Thomas and Roger could have been legally outlawed, he has been amerced in the sum of 201. by the King's Bench : the king has pardoned him the said sum.
