Grant, for life, at the request of the king's kinsman Henry Percy, knight, warden of the Estmarch towards Scotland and captain of the castle and town of Berwick-upon-Tweed, to John Lematon of the office of clerk of the king's works of the castle of Rokesburgh, the castle and town of Berwick-upon-Tweed and the castle and town of Carlisle, taking 12d. 3 day when staying there in occupation of his office and 2s. a day when riding by reason of his office by the hands of the treasurer of England at the receipt of the Exchequer ; in lieu of a grant thereof during pleasure to Alexander Lermouth by letters patent dated 28 February in the sixteenth year, surrendered.
