Whereas John de Cusancia, late prior of the house of St. Saviour, Bermundeseye, and the convent of that place, demised by indenture to Tidemann Lymbergh, merchant of Almain, and Geoffrey de Withyngham, citizen and mercer of London, for a certain sum cf money, all their land in La Breche in the parish of Retherhethe together with a piece of their land which Richard Vincent lately entered into and enclosed, together with the waters, fisheries and other commodities pertaining to them of the said lands and the rents and services of their tenants in La Breche, to hold for the life of Tidemann and for five years after his death ; and afterwards John de Claro Loco, then prior, and the said convent, granted at farm to Thomas de Pykenham, citizen and merchant of London, and John son of Robert de Pykenham all their marsh called Druettesmersh with the houses situated therein, and all their lands in a marsh called Priestemerssh, which said marshes, houses and lands Thomas de Abyndon held in his lifetime in the parish of Retherhethe, co. Surrey, to hold to them and their assigns from Michaelmas, 36 Edward III, for 50 years at a rent of 8 marks sterling payable at Bermundeseye ; and now the lands demised to Tidemann and Geoffrey are in the king's hand by the death of Geoffrey and by occasion of a misprision committed by Tidemann for the term mentioned, and the marshes and houses leased to Thomas de Pykenham and John are in the king's hand on the conditions mentioned above by grant of Walter Forster of London, to whom Thomas and John granted their estate therein: the king, at the supplication of the present prior, has surrendered his estate in the premises to the prior and convent.
