to Oliver de Calthorp, sheriff of Norfolk and Suffolk, de Eccles, John Bataile, sheriff of Essex, Roger de Wolfreton, Kaile and William Hastynges, to make inquisitions in those touching a complaint by George de Felbrigg and William to whom the king by letters patent lately committed at farm a time the subsidy of cloths and the petty customs in some places those counties, that divers merchants have brought very many and other merchandise to certain privy places in the counties land and water and sold the same to divers persons, and have taken merchandise from the same places without the realm, without of the subsidy and custom, and have by force prevented them their ministers and deputies from collecting the subsidy and from others and have threatened them many times for collecting same. ld.
