Grant in frank almoin, with the assent of the Council, confirming to the prior and convent of the Charterhouse, London, founded by Walter de Manny, knight, divers lands and tenements, including the advowson of the church of Northmymmes, co. Herts, which the king has in demesne or in reversion by virtue of divers charters hereinafter recited, granting the same in perpetuity to the king and to William, bishop of London, hereinafter called the grantees, and of the release and quit-claim to the king by the said bishop of all his interest therein. ; By charter dated London, 25 September, 1377, Michael Free, alias Northburgh, clerk, as executor of Michael Northburgh, late bishop of London, whose will was proved in the Husting [court] on Monday in the feast of St. Lucy the Virgin, 35 Edward III., granted in perpetuity to the said grantees, divers tenements in London, viz. two tenements and two shops in St. Martin's, Oteswiche, between those of Master William de Oteswiche, citizen and surgeon of London, on the east, and Ralph Crepyn on the west, a plot of land on the south and the king's street (vicwm regium) on the north ; a tenement in a lane called Silverstrete in St. Olave s parish, between Richard de Burton s on the east and a tenement of the prior and convent of St. Valery on the west; another in Olde Chaunge in St. Mary Magdalene s, between what was formerly Thomas Madefrey s on the east and the old tish-market (piscartam) on the west, and between another, formerly John Oxenford s on the north, and others, formerly John Stanstede s, on the south; also five shops with sollarson them at the end of Pater Noster Rowe in St. Gregory's parish, by the palace of the bishop of London, near to the inn of the countess of Pembroke; also a tenement in the parish of St. Peter the Less and St. Bennet near Poule s Warf, between William Fifhyde s on the north, what was formerly John Cantebrigg s, citizen and fishmonger of London, on the south, Seint Petre-lane eastwards, and William de Causton s westwards, all of which belonged to the said Michael, bishop of London. By charter of the same date as the preceding William de Walworth, ; William de Halden and Robert Launde, citizens of London, in like manner granted to the said grantees divers tenements formerly Thomas Sterre sin Billingesgate ward, two in St. George's parish and one in St. Botolph s, between John Wirhale s, John Claveryng s, deghere, John Courtrays . Parr VI. 243 Coggeshale s, two with shops in Bruggestrete in St. Margaret's ward, one in Tower ward, in All Hallows , Berkyng, and one houses built on it called Stonhous, with garden in St. Botolph s withbetween tenements of the pies of the hospital of St. Mary Bishopesgate and of Nicholas called Pungg ; 40s. yearly rent from Pykman s in St. Botolph s in Billyngesgate ward ; ; a messuage, land, wood in Plumstede, Burstall and Lesnes, in the county of Kent, Roger Shipbroke s and his wifé Margaret's; a gate witha chamber over it called Le Logge, with land and wood which Roger had by of Thomas Whitecurtel, in the parish of St. Botolph, Pluma garden in the vicarage close of Plumstede church, acquired by of Isabella Smelt; a parcel of wood lying next to his ox-stall, which by feoffment of John Pertriche, and of land which he had by of Thomas Stonham and William, his brother; a house of the Roger occupied by John Gildesburgh between John le Olde s and Saundrekyn s houses and land of the abbot of Lesnes and of Graunger; divers lands in Plumstede acquired by the grantors the heirs of Robert Payn of Wykham, from Thomas Seman, Ralph and Hamund Seman, from John Sandhill, from John Tacheham the heirs of Michael Clerc, from William May and John Aleyn; acres of meadow in the parish of Bixhill in the county of Kent, the grantors had by the feoffment of Richard Sony. same grantors also granted to the same grantees all the lands and with the houses thereon, the rents, woods, meadows, feedings, waters, ways, paths, folds, dykes and other commodities, called and Wodelegh in the parish[ es] of Totenham and Edelmeton, which they had by the feoffment of John Cantebrigg, citizen monger of London, and Master John de Burton, late rector of Warein the diocese of Salisbury, together with the following reversions viz. the manor of Middelton Cheynduyt, co. Northampton, upon of Isabella, wife of William Seint Johan, and Margery, wife Lyouns; the manor of Westfeld, co. Norfolk, with its advowson the deaths of Edmund de Hederset, knight, and Isabella, his wife ; lands and rents in Candilwikstrede, London, formerly Thomas held by Helmyngus Leget and Marger y his wife, upon the death said Margery. charter dated London, 28 September 1377, John Phillipot and William de Walworth, citizens of London, in like manner to the same grantees the following, viz. the tenement in the of St. Mary, Wolchirchehawe, which Walter Forester had by of Walter de Odyham, pierce and Richard Savage, clerk, with sollars, &c.; the houses built over two other shops of Roger de which the said Walter acquired from Stephen Godewyn, to Simon de Bosenham s on the east and the said Stephen's on and between the said Roger's on the south and Cornhull on the ; the tenement with garden called Brodegate in the parish of in the ward of Bradestrete, between William Wodhous s Wolman s, which now belongs (restat) to the fraternity Mary, Wolchirchehawe, and extends from what was formerly John southwards as far as Walbrok; also 20s. yearly rent out of the lands formerly Godwin le Hodere s, citizen and skinner in the parish[es of St. Mary Wolchirchehawe and St. Mary in the wards of Langbourne and Cornhull, which Walter Forester from Arnald Rote, citizen and skinner of London, and Juliana, one of the daughters and heirs of Adam de Aspal, citizen and of London, together with the following reversions expectant, viz. Q 2 coné. a corner tavern ( aberna corner ), with a sollar and six shops adjacent in the said parish of St. Mary, Wolchirchehawe, between Lumberdstrete and Cornhull, held for life by Stephen Godewyn; two shops in the parish of St. Michael, Cornhull, lately Thomas de Bosenham s, grandson of Simon de Bosenham, one of which is held for life by Osbert de Hilberworth, citizen and skinner of London, the other by Walter de Pikenham, citizen and skinner of London, and Joan, his wife. By charter dated London, 22 October 1377, Nicholas de Thorneton and Thomas Bedewyn, clerks, in like manner granted to the same grantees two acres of land in the parish of Tacheworth, in the field called Little Pynkford, co. Hertford, together with the advowson of the church of Northmymmes in that county, held by them by the feoffment of Thomas Strete, Henry Strete of Knesworth, and Adam de Wyvelyngham, clerk. IJnspexvimus and confirmation, in favour of the prior and convent of Holy Trinity, London, of letters patent dated 1 December, 30 Edward IIL, being a grant to that house of 100s. yearly from the farm of the city of London and county of Middlesex, in perpetuity.
