Commission to John Say, knight, Nicholas Stathum, Thomas Leventhorp, John Pulter, James Bradman and Ralph Grey to enquire into the petition of John Horne alias John Litelbury that py a fine levied at Westminster in one month of Michaelmas, 7 Edward II. before William de Bereford and his fellows, justices of the Beneh, Henry Boclond acknowledged the manor of Boclond to be the right of Master Simon de Gledesey and the latter granted the manor to the said Henry and Alice his wife for life with successive remainders to Reginald son of the said Henry and Richard his brother and Eleanor his sister and the heirs of their bodies and to the right heirs of Henry, and the said Henry and Alice were seised of the manor in time of peace in time of Edward II. and received the esplees thereof and Alice died and afterwards Henry died and Reginald was seised of it in time of Edward II. and Richard in time of Edward III. and both died without heirs of their bodies, and the said Eleanor was seised of it in time of Edward III. and received the esplees until she was disseised by Peter Marshall, whose estate Thomas late lord of Roos had on 4 March, 1 Edward IV. and her right of the manor descended to William her son and heir and from him to Thomas his son and heir and from him to the said petitioner as his son and heir, and by an act of the Parliament at Westminster, 4 November, 1 Edward IV. it was ordained that the said Thomas, lord of Roos, should forfeit all his possessions, and that afterwards by inquisition taken at Ware, co. Hertford, on Thursday after All Saints, 7 Edward IV. before Thomas Appulton, then escheator in the county, it was found that Eleanor, late duchess of Somerset, held the said manor of Bokelond alias Boclond, co. Hertford, in dower after the death of Thomas Roos, knight, late lord of Roos and Hanlak, her husband, of the inheritance of the said Thomas Roos, late lord of Roos, his son and that she died on 6 March then last past, and accordingly the manor was taken into the king's hands, wherefore he prays that justice may be done as he was not attainted by the act nor claims as heir of any one attained by it.
