Commission to Walter Devereux of Ferrers, knight, William Harbert of Harbert, knight, James Baskarvile, knight, Richard Harbert, knight, Roger Vaghan, knight, William Notyngham, John Milewater, Thomas Morgan and Hugh Huntley to enquire into certain counterfeitings, clippings, sweatings and other falsifications of money within the counties of Salop and Hereford and the parts of Wales and the marches of the same and to punish the delinquents, Commission to John OColsull, knight, John Denys, Thomas Lucombe and William Rosemoderes to enquire into the supplication of John Arundell of Trerys, esquire, that whereas on the morrow of the Ascension, Henry VI. a fine was levied at Westminster before Richard Norton and his fellows, justices of the Common Bench, and afterwards in Haster term, 2 Henry VI. before the said justices it was agreed between John Corke, complainant, and John Arundell of Trerys and Joan his wife, deforciants, that the manor of Efford, co. Cornwall, was the right of the said John Corke of the grant of the said John Arundell and Joan and the said John Corke granted the manor to them and the heirs of their bodies, by force of which they were seised of the manor and received the esplees, and after their decease the right of the manor descended to Nicholas their son and heir and he was seized of it and after his decease the right descended to the said supplicant as his son and heir and he entered into the manor and was seised of it until 1 October, 4 Edward [V. when it was found by an inquisition taken at Launceston, co. Cornwall, before Thomas Wise and Thomas Gill, esquires, by virtue of a commission under the great seal directed to them and Oto Gilbert, esquire, and John Giffard, that Baldwin Fulford, knight, attainted of high treason by an act in Parliament at Westminster, 4 November, 1 Edward IV. held on the day of his death eight messuages, two tofts, two carucates and 64 acres of land, 6 acres of meadow, 200 acres of pasture, 30 acres of wood, a moiety of three tofts, 51 acres of land, 4 acres of meadow, 60 acres of pasture, 3 knights fees and 10s. of rent yearly in Wesprayhele, Loterigge, Tekebare, Bowton, Stratton, Efford, Stonlond, Bithestrond, Coleton, Pynchelegh, Ketelegh, Marchalleslond, Crabhay, Borecote, Pennalyn, Cardinan, Weke Saint Mary, Bradderige and Benam, co. Cornwall, in his demesne as of fee of John Keynes by fealty and the rent of 8 marks yearly, and he died on 9 September, 1 Edward IV, and the premises are worth 100s. yearly and form the manor of Efford, and by virtue of the said inquisition and by reason of the act aforesaid whereby it was ordained that he should forfeit all lands which he held on 80 December, 39 Henry VI. the said Thomas Gill, then escheator of the counties of Devon and Cornwall, took the premises into the king's hands and expelled the said supplicant, and afterwards by letters patent dated 23 November, 4 Edward IV. the king granted the premises to Thomas Fulford, knight, and his heirs and assigns, but the said Baldwin was never seised of the said manor or any parcel thereof, justice may be done.
