Notification by the king of the finding of an inquisition held touching capture by ships from Calais of a dromound of Genoa, viz. upon trustinformation that Berenger Blanc , keeper or admiral in the parts of of certain ships of Louis [X.], late king of France, had taken a certain ship of Genoa, commonly calleda Droumound, which had been laden in parts with wheat, wine, honey and other victuals for conveyance into realm of England for sale, at les Dounes by the port of Sandwich, being under the king's protection and safe-conduct, and carried her off to the king appointed Robert de Kendale, constable of the castle of Dover warden of the Cinque Ports, to enquire by oath as well of merchants mariners and other good men of the county of Kent what goods and were in the said ship when she was carried off, and of the true of the same, and touching other excesses and trespasses committed by said Berenger Blane and his men, and now by an inqnisition taken at co. Kent, on Sunday next after the feast of St. Denis, Edward IT. by oath of Richard de Cryel, William Mareschal, William John Mareschal, Ralph Brewer, John Cousyn, John Fulmere, Dreye, Joseph Russell, Stephen atte Mede, Simon Hulkebon and Alan it was found that a certain great ship called le Dromound, viz. ship of St. John of Genoa, of which James de Roco, merchant of Genoa, patron and held for master, being anchored in les Dounes by the port of within the king's power and dominion as set forth above, the Berenger Blanc came with 29 ships on Ascension Day, 9 Edward IT. carried off the ship to Calais with its rigging and merchandise, as set forth, viz.: The hull of the ship, with mast, yard, Redon anda oaks bor the price of 300/. sterling.
