Grant to the abbot and convent of St. Mary's, York, that they may retain 300/. out of the next aid to be granted to the king by the clergy of the province of York, in satisfaction of a like sum which they had advanced as a loan to him by the hands of Anthony Pessaigne of Genoa, then king's merchant, out of the moneys accruing from the tenth for six years, imposed on the clergy of England by Pope Clement V. of which they were subcollectors in the diocese of York. The king had then granted to them that they should receive the said 300/. out of the first moneys accruing from the twelve pence in the mark which the clergy of the province of York lately granted to him out of their ecclesiastical goods in that province, to be received at the hands of the abbot and convent of Seleby, collectors of the said twelve pence in some parts of the province, to whom the king had issued a mandate to make such payment. Subsequently the abbot and convent of St. Mary's, York, with the assent of the keeper of the spirituality of the archbishopric of York, the see being void, and of the dean and chapter of St. Peter's, York, at the king's request, agreed to the payment being deferred, so that the said money accruing from the twelve pence might be wholly converted to the advancement of the king's affairs.
