Whereas lately, on complaint of the commonalty that divers men of the realm conveyed victuals to Scotland for of the king's enemies, the king caused a proclamation to be so doing, and afterwards being informed that divers men of of York, notwithstanding the proclamation, conveyed corn and to the parts of Scotland, he issued a commission to Nicholas and the said Thomas Plaiz and Robert de Sandale to enquire conveyed corn and other victuals from the said county towards for the sustenance of his enemies, from what places, and what and who sold the corn and victuals to the Scots or unknown to be carried without the realm, who received the Scots and such and who collected the corn in those parts and held it until the advent or such unknown persons to sell it to them, and the king was informed that upon inquisition made by the said commissioners many were indicted for those trespasses and taken and detained in prison, they cannot be delivered without the king's special mandate, that others, after the proclamations, conveyed divers victuals, and other necessaries to the king's enemies. The commissioners are into the matter, indict and imprison offenders, and inflict fines to the nature of the offence.
