The like to John de Neville of Stokes and Nicholas de Bolyngbrok, on information that, when the king commanded John de Sandale, king's clerk, the chancellor, then at London, that he together with the whole Chancery should come to him to the North, Andrew le Baillif of Stretton, William de Aylesbury, John Gent of Wymbissh, William le Provost, Roger his son, Roger Haynesone, Henry del Hull, Geoffrey Flory and Reginald son of Walter with others, seized his carts laden with his harness and victuals for a his sustenance and that of the king's clerks in the said Chancery on the f common highway at Stretton bithe Strete on the confines of the counties 5 of Rutland and Lincoln, detained them under arrest for a long time, carried ql away a great part of the harness and victuals with which they were loaded, killed a horse of his of the price of 10/., and assaulted his men and servants, imprisoned them and put them in the stocks (in compedibus). p.
