Memorandum, that a charter of R. bishop of Bath and Wells, touching certain liberties and suits, made 12 July, is enrolled at the beginning;; of the month of August in this roll. Grant to Hugh son of Otto of the custody, during the minority of Otto the ?on and heir, of the manors of Hamerton, co. Huntingdon, and Beuchamp Parva, co. Essex, with the advowson of the church of the latter, which Beatrix, deceased, late the wife of Thomas son of Otto, held in dower. Licence, at the instance of Florence, coimt of Holland, for Peter son of Gerebyn, ' oppidan ' of Ghent, merchant of the count, to trade in the realm for one vear. [The schedule is missing.] Mandate to all bailiffs to protect, for one year, the merchants of the above count, coming to the realm to trade, as the king is now treating with him touching amends to be made for trespasses committed against the king's merchants. Mandate to Ralph Raby and Ralph son of Benedict, keepers of the exchange of Lincoln, to let Master William de Luda, keeper of the wardrobe, have 1,000/. for the expenses of the household. Grant to Master Thomas de Alfreton, king's serjeant and cook, of the custody, during the minority of the heirs, of the lands late of Humphrey de Whaddon, tenant in chief, saving to Chiricia, late the wife of the said Humphrey, her dower. Protection for the merchants of Florence, count of Holland and Seland, trading in the realm, for as long as ihey behave well to the king's merchants, the count having, in the king's presence, promised to make amende for the trespasses heretofore committed by them. Mandate to Stephen Sarazin and Robert le Mercer, keepers of the Exchange of Chester, to deliver to Master William de Luda, keeper of the wardrobe, 1,250/. for the e.x.penses of the household. The like for Robert de Turevill, master of the Knights Templars in England, going beyond seas, nominating brothers Thomas de Toluse and William de Medburn for two years. Master Philip, canon of the church of Kilfenora (Fbinaharensis) bringing news of the death of his bishop, has letters of licence to elect. Commission for oyer and terminer to Oliver de Ingham and Robert de Bosco as to the trespasses committed against Peter de Duaco, merchant of Berwyk, in the county of Norfolk, and bis goods lost by shipwreck there. Whereas Orlandinus de Podio, merchant and citizen of Lucca, keeper of (he exchange of London and Canterbury, having rendered his final account before the council up to the present day, and Gregory de Rokesle, keeper of the same exchange in the same places, has charged himself with all the arrears of the said Orlandinus, and promised to render account for himself and Orlandinus touching the issues of the exchange of Canterbury from the last delivery of the said exchange of Canterbury, Vv-hich was made in May last, the king acquits the said Orlandinus and his heirs and executors of all could be exacted from him on account of the said exchange. Mandate in pursuance to the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer.
