The king granted a safeconduct to the merchants of the count of Holland until Michaelmas, 7 Edward I. but some men of the town of Len arrested some goods of the said merchants, contrary to the said safe-conduct, and although the king several times commanded the bailiffs of W. bishop of Norwich, of Len, to deliver the arrested goods to the said merchants, they neglected to do so, wherefore the king commanded the sheriff of Norfolk to go in person to the town and attach the said bailiffs and have them before the king three weeks after last Easter to answer for their contempt, but they, disregarding their attachment, failed to come. He is to enquire whether the arrest was made after the date of the said safe-conduct, and whether by single persons or by the commonalty : if by single persons, he is to arrest them, if by the commonalty he is to seize the liberties of the commonalty.
