Commission of oyer and terminer to Geoffrey de Nevill, Nicholas de Stapelton, and Ralph de Broghton, touching the excesses and trespasses alleged to have been committed by the burgesses and commonalty of Scarborough against the king and William de Percy, king's clerk, at the time when the said William was constable of the king's castle of Scarborough. Commission to Nicholas de Stapelton and Ralph de Broughton (1) To punish persons convicted before the king of having exported wool and other merchandise to Flanders, and having, contrary to the king's prohibition and their own oath, had dealings with the Flemings during the late contentions between Henry IIL and the king witii the countess of Flanders, to seize their goods and take amends from them. (2) To inquire what persons beyond Trent have committed the like offences, and to punish the offenders. (3) To inquire what archbishops, bishops, abbots, priors, earls, barons, or others beyond Trent have permitted such traffic to pass through their ports or districts, and to punish the offenders.
