Membrane bd. Commission to John Wyger and Ralph de Broghton to extend the king's demesne lands and lands in any way in his hands within the isles of Gerneseye and Jereseye and the other of the king's islands near the coast of Normandy, and to enquire of lands of the king usurped and alienated without licence, of the king's rights and liberties as well by land as by water subtracted without licence, and to resume them into the king's hands; saving the amercements to the king. The like to the same to enquire touching injuries and losses as well of the abbot of Mont St. Michel in peril of the Sea and other religious as of other persons within those islands, hear plaints and do justice therein according to law and the customs of those islands. The like to the same to audit the account of Arnold Johannis, bailiff of tho.se islands, for the time he had the custody thereof, and to levy on his lands aud goods what, after view of his account, he owes the king. The like to the same touching injuries of the abbot of Mont St. Michel, etc. as above. The like to the same to enquire how the jurats of those islands have behaved hitherto to the king and the commonalty of the king's people of those parts, to punish and remove them according to their deserts, and appoint persons in their places. 2 EDWAED I.
