[1300.] On Sunday after the Annunciation, Roger son of Roger le Chaumberleyn by night from the house of Agnes Youdale in Schepeshevit, and outside door of the abbot of Leicester in Schepesheved, met Robert son of Roger Burtone, who assaulted him with a hatchet and would have killed him. said Roger son of Roger forthwith fled to his father's house and would entered, but found the door shut; the said Robert pursued him so he could not escape ; he therefore struck the said Robert on the left arm a dagger in self defence, whereof the said Robert afterwards died. 1827.
