Writ to the sheriff of Northumberland. Brotherton. 24 October Edward I. [1296.] Inquisition : Woloner. Thursday after St. Hilary 25 Edward I. [1297.] John Wischarde bought from the prior of Kyrkeham for 16 marks the tithe sheaves of Menylawe in the parish of Carham, and for payment of that bound all his town of Menylawe, which town and all the tenants therein, they were his bondmen, are now in the king's hand on account of his The said John sold a moiety of the said tithe to William de Kyilum Robert chaplain of the same for 8 marks, which they have not yet paid ; the other moiety he expended a quarter and a bushel of wheat of the price 5s., and the residue was taken to the castle of Werk on Tweed by William Rose, who had the king's order to garnish the castle. Of the 16 marks has yet been paid. C. Ing. Mise. File 57. (16.) 1758. Inquisition :- Aulescumbe. Monday after St. John before the Gate 25 Edward I. [1297.] Two messuages, 18 acres of land, and 4 acres of meadow in Aulescumbe, John de la Mede, who was hanged for felony, held, have been a year a day in the king's hand. The said John held of Reynold de Clyfford, knight, a messuage, 10 acres of and an acre of meadow, of the abbot of Dunkeswell, 3 acres of land half an acre of meadow ; of William Foukes a messuage, 2 acres of land, half an acre of meadow ; of Benedict de Shyreford 2 acres of land ; and 30.
