Commission to John de Havering justice of North Wales. Westminster. August 23 Edward I. [1295.] Inquisition : Ellesmere. 8 October. Fulk son of Fulk son of Warin and his bailifis of Whitenton viz. John son Madoc, Owen ab Eynon, and Richard Hord and certain others, took 60 of the value of 71. 10s., which belonged to brother Kudo, master of the of St. John of Jerusalem in North Wales, in the wood of Babynges, caused them to be brought to the castle of Whitenton, and did their will them. They took a mare at Halestane on the land of the said brother Eudo. and her until redeemed for 5s. These captures were made in the year 13 Edward I. Also the said Fulk and his bailiffs took, on Friday after St. Andrew Edward I, 26 oxen of the price of 13/., and caused them to be brought to said castle, and 8 oxen, which they held for eight days, to the damage of the brother Eudo of half a mark, because he was hindered in his ploughing ; also took in the church of Halestane 8 bushels of wheat of the price of and 10 quarters of oats of the price of 33s. 4d., and from the villeins of said brother bread, cheese, butter, and other victuals to the value half a mark. The said bailiffs took the plough beasts of the men of the said brother Eudo carry victuals, and held them until redeemed for 40d., and did other damage the amount of 10 marks in his corn, hay and pasture.
