Wednesday in the feast of St. Matthias. Thomas de Pontesbury, on the day when he was convicted of certain before Robert Mallet and his fellows, justices appointed to deliver of Bedford, had no goods or chattels in co. Bedford. C. Ing. Misc. File 54. (36.) Writ to Malcolm de Harleye, escheator south of Trent. Fareham. 22 Edward I. [1294.] : Bridgnorth. Saturday the Vigil of the Assumption. before St. Barnabas last past the king's bailiff came to the Wodeton, which belonged to Philip Burnel, and delivered to the of Donus de Podio and his fellows, merchants of Lucca, a moiety of which belonged to the said Philip in the said manor, which moiety at 131. 15s. 91d. a year ; after the said livery, which was made by a judgment before the steward and marshal for certain debts in INQUISITIONS the said Philip was bound to the said merchants, the said Philip died Saturday after the Nativity of St. John the Baptist last past. On the said Saturday the said bailiff delivered to the said attorney for the reason a moiety of the lands which belonged to the said Philip in which moiety is extended at 110s. 9d. a year, a moiety of his lands Sutton extended at 111s. 84d., a moiety of the manor of Holegod extended 111. 4s. 10 d., a moiety of his lands in Millinghop extended at 31s. 4d., a of the rent of Abbeton extended at 42s. 7d., a moiety of his lands in of the yearly value of 48s. 6d., and a moiety of his lands in Hope of the yearly value of 23s. 44d. The king's bailiff came to Acton Burnel on Wednesday after St. Barnabas past, delivered to the said attorney a moiety of the manor of Acton Burnel at 91. 2s. 5 d., and a moiety of the lands which belonged to the Philip in Acton Pygot extended at 49s. 5 d., a moiety of his lands in extended at 68s. 1d., a moiety of the manor of Conet extended 101. 14s. 7d., a moiety of his lands in Conedovere extended at 8/. 14s. 11d., moiety of his lands in Cantelhop extended at 17s. 6d., and a moiety of his in Smethecote extended at 22s. 103d. The king's bailiff came to Routon on Thursday after St. Barnabas last past delivered to the said attorney the following moieties in the form aforesaid in Longdon extended at 4/. 14s. 94d., and in Routon extended at 66s. 34d. The said attorney in the name of the said merchants was in seisin of the moieties from the time of the livery thereof, as aforesaid, until the day the death of the said Philip. Return from the escheator stating that the goods and chattels, which to the said Philip in co. Salop, delivered to the said merchants by the mentioned above, together with monies before delivered to the merchants by the sheriffs of divers counties by the king's orders, are to acquit the debts without any livery of lands. On the day of taking the inquisition some of the goods and chattels, which to the said Philip, were appraised by the sheriff of Salop, and some ; nevertheless, all were delivered to the said merchants.
