Writ to Malcolm de Harleye, escheator south of Trent. Westminster. June 21 Edward I. [1293.] Inquisition : Bradewey, co. Somerset. Friday before St. Matthew. John de Brywys granted to Robert Burnel, bishop of Bath and Wells, the of Beatrice his daughter, and with the king's licence at the instance the said bishop enfeoffed Thomas de Button, then archdeacon of Wells, the manors of Stapele and Corilond and surrendered the same in the king's and the said Thomas had good and peaceful seisin and afterwards thereof the said John and Beatrice and her heirs; after a year's MISCELLANEOUS 455 the said John the said bishop married Robert Burnel, his nephew, to Beatrice after the said John's death and with his consent ; the said the nephew is of the age of 21 years and more and Beatrice his wife age of 17 years and more; they have issue a daughter. manor of Stapele is held of the king in chief by the service of half a fee of the honor of Mortain, and is of the yearly value of 201. 6s. 8d. ; of the said John de Brywys is dowered with the third part. is not held of the king in chief, but the said John held it on the his death of Sir Hugh de Poyns by the service of a twentieth part of fee; it is of the yearly value of 4. Saturday after Michaelmas. son of Robert de Preston, and heir of Henry de Preston, deceased, of the king in chief as of the honor of Aumale, was married to daughter of Ralph de Wallewyk, on All Saints Day 8 Edward I, by de Preston, to whom his marriage belonged by reason of 6 bovates of Waxham, which Robert de Preston his father, whose heir he is, held said Henry by knight service.
