[1289.] :--Monday before St. Gregory the Pope. de Bosco of Wirlingworthe and others (named) came with force by to the house of Walter le Pouere of Wetheringsete at Monk Soham, broke the house and carried away his goods. C. Ing. Misc. File 48. (28.) Writ to the sheriff of Norfolk. Witness, Edmund, earl of Cornwall. 6 February 17 Edward I. [1289.] : Roger, earl of Norfolk and marshal of England, came with homages of Dichingham, Bungeye, Hedinham, Hersham, Thueyt, and by Bungeye, on Friday after St. James 16 Edward J, and took MISCELLANEOUS 419 of Geoffrey de Aqua in Dichingham, Thueyt, Mundham, and to the value of 30 marks. persons by order of Roger Bigod [earl of Norfolk] took corn of the at Disse and Bur[ston] and conveyed it to the house of the said C. Inq. Misc. File 48. (29.) Inquisition before Sirs W. de Carlton and W. de Rothing. West Friday in Whitsun week 17 Edward I. [1289.] of the prior of Schuldham at Stokeferie, Wrecton, and Wyrham to the inhabitants of those towns and to possessors of land there turf at their will, and they can sell it to anybody at their will, as hitherto been accustomed to do. Thomas, son of Emma le Rede, (named), who have no tenement in the said towns, and no common marsh, have dug and sold turf unjustly, and not allowed themselves or distrained. There are several cottagers who have made in the said common beyond the quantity of their tenements viz. atte Fen and others (named), and will not allow themselves to be is able to pasture 500 animals less than it used.
