Writ of mittatis to the said William Thorp. Witness: Lionel, guardian of Windsor. 18 August. Endorsed : William de Thorp, William de Notton and Roger Petigard taken an inquisition by virtue of the commission and have delivered to sufficient men to be taken to the king. Inquisition before the said William, William and Roger. Bishop's Lynn. the eve of St. Laurence. John de Ely, late bishop of Norwich, about Michaelmas 3 Edward II, by a indented, whereof one part was sealed with the bishop's seal and the seal of the prior and chapter of the church of the Holy Trinity, and is in the possession of the mayor and commonalty of Bishop's and was brought before the commissioners for their inspection, acquired the said mayor and commonalty view of frank pledge in the town; he acquired a hustings court to be held once a week and cognisance of pleas contracts, agreements, trespass and land. the present bishop now occupies the same, no licence having been Bishop John by the charter granted to the mayor and commonalty the 2002.
