Writ of privy seal to Robert Parving, chancellor. Westminster. August 17 Edward III. [1343.] French. petitions from the abbot and convent of Chertsey. French. to John de Gaynesford, William de Northo and John de Hayton. 12 May. By petition of parliament. before the said John de Gaynesford and William. Suthewerk, Surrey. Tuesday the feast of St. Botolph. lands in Henle and Fremesworth, now the manor of Henle, which the king's hand, were held of the abbot and convent of Chertsey as of their C. Ing. Misc. File 150. (1.) Writ to Thomas de Swynnerton, escheator in co. Salop. West- 14 September 17 Edward III. [1343.] : Shrewsbury. 24 October. de Okleye, Thomas de Chabenore, chaplain, Hugh Abard of Thongelond, de Parva Hereford, chaplain, John de Orleton, John de Pedewarthyn, Carles of Moreswode, Robert Sherewynd, Philip de la Clee, Hugh de and Adam Balle entered the lands in Cyvynton, in the king's seisin the death of Stephen de Butterleye and by writ of diem claustt extremum, the king's prejudice, and detained them for some time against the order the escheator, and took away geese, capons, hens and pullets, and destroyed hay, to the total value of 40d. C. Ing. Misc. File 150. (2.) Writ to William de Clynton, earl of Huntingdon, constable of Dover and warden of the Cinque Ports, or to him who supplies his place. 28 November 17 Edward III. [1343.] MISCELLANEOUS 465 before Thomas de Brenlee, mayor of Faversham, and the bailiff by order of the said William, Faversham. Sunday after of wool, which belonged to Bernard Pouche and Richard atte were arrested at Faversham on Saturday after the Exaltation of Cross last, five on John Shote s quay and two in a boat, whereof is master, were to be conveyed to London and not to foreign parts.
