[1337.] The ship la Godeyer of Lenn was laden by Thomas de Melcheburn, one of king's purveyors of victuals at Lenne, with 180 quarters. of wheat by the MISCELLANEOUS 369 by the measure of Lenn called English bushels, struck without and 238 quarters of oats by the same bushel, whereof one struck heaped without advantage, to be conveyed to Berwick and to the receiver there. : the eve of St. Clement at the entry of the port of Berwick the driven by a storm against a wall called Holdman with such force broke (crepuitt). Brekheved, the master, and the sailors, considering the imminent the water entered the ship in abundance, directed her to the nearest ; afterwards on the same night another storm suddenly arising the ship, so that all the corn was lost, without fault of the master except 134 chalders (celdr ) of corn and 6 chalders and 1 quarters were sold at divers prices for 111. 13s. 6d. of good, clean, and dry wheat, by Scottish measure, making by English measure, was then worth at Berwick 24s., a chalder of worth 8s.
