Commission to John de Tycheburn and William de Overton. Perth. 9 Edward III. [1335.] : Porcestre. Thursday after St. Faith. are no victuals in the castle of Porcestre ; the following are necessary : quarters of wheat valued at 26/. 13s. 4d.; 60 quarters of peas and beans 100 quarters of oats at 131. 6s. 8d.; 30 quarters of salt at 4l.; of wine at 331. 6s. 8d. ; 10 tuns of cider at 7/. 10s.; 10 oxen at 8I. ; at 8/.; a tun of honey at 101.; 100 cartloads of wood at 100s.; and quarters of coal at 61. 13s. 4d. are 8 helmets which can be repaired for 16s.; 12 basinets, which be repaired for 16s., and 8 basinets of no value; 12 haquetons, which be repaired on account of rot; 8 habergeons, of which 6 are of no ; 3 pairs of plates of no value; 80 lances and 6 sheaths of darts (botell ; a pair of jambers ; 7 springalds, which can be repaired for 100s. ; MISCELLANEOUS 359 bows (baliste de vyz), which can be repaired for 60s.; 70 one foot de uno pede), which can be repaired for 70s. ; 8 crossbows without balistarum sine telar ), which can be repaired for 40s. ; 100 great ; 200 small quarels; 10 bows of no value; and 80 dozen arrows. following armour is necessary besides that before mentioned : 12 worth 16/.; 10 habergeons worth 10/.; 200 great quarels worth and no more because there are 200 iron heads in the castle; 2,000 worth 50s.; and 20 bows worth 30s. lead (plumbus fornaceus) is necessary and can be provided for a brazen pot holding 20 gallons worth 26s. 8d.; two smaller brazen 26s. 8d.; 3 posnets worth 13s. 4d.; and 3 pails worth 10s. also need repair ; the great tower is unroofed to the damage and can be repaired with 20 fodders (votmellis) of lead worth 60s., the wages of plumbers and other expenses on account of the great the tower 60s. ; 20 windows are wanting in the tower, which can be with joints, hinges, and other necessaries for 60s. ; there is a house tower completely ruined, whereof the walls can be repaired for 40/. ; with timber previously prepared for the purpose found in the be done, as the jurors believe, for 40/.; the lead for roofing, as is worth 50/., for expenses of placing the same 10. within the inner avard are unroofed, so that the timber is rotting, will cost 10/.; there are two small towers within the ward, which are decayed, and are very necessary for the safe keeping of the castle ; be repaired for 20/.; the great bridge at the entrance of the ward and almost ruinous, and can be repaired for 10/.; the west gate is and was never entirely roofed, and can be repaired for 100s.; the the east gate and wastes the land around it; the defects can be for 40s. should be done before the Nativity of St. John the Baptist are great defects in the outer ward, which cannot be valued. [1337.] said Reynold on the day of his death held the manor of Renham of yearly value of 23/., which he demised to John de Trayly for a term of who demised his term to Eleanor sometime queen of England, who the manor to the hospital of St. Katharine without the Tower of London perpetual alms; the said Reynold likewise held a marsh called Chettene Iwade of the yearly value of 20 marks, which Thomas de Gylingham and le Wyse now hold to feefarm of Henry, Stephen, and John de Cobham ; a marsh called Boyworthe in Halwesto of the yearly value of 5 marks, Michael de Ponynges now holds; also the manor of Stallesfelde of the value of 41. 10s., which the prior and convent of St. Gregory, Canterbury, hold for a term of years by his demise.
