The lawn of Plompton used to be enclosed ; the enclosure was broken by Scots, who frequently passed the night in the forest of Ingelwode during war ; it is to the king's advantage that it should be enclosed because the can have better sustenance, and, if it is not enclosed, the grass is so by beasts entering at night that in winter a great part of the deer for want of sustenance. If the said lawn should be agisted, the agistment would be worth double present value. More than a third of the lawn can be enclosed with a stone wall, more than third with a dyke made of quickset hedge and the remainder with a paling. It would be to the advantage of the king and the forest to remove the peel Heyheved, because its foundation is weak and there is no water therein, it could not be repaired except at a cost of 4001. and a great destruction of ; of the timber in the said peel a simple dwelling house can be made on C. Ing. Misc. File 119. (1.) 1250.
