Monday before the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. parson of the church of Stanton, on Thursday after St. Thomas 14 Edward II by his charter made at Sapecote, granted the manor by Sapecote to Simon Basset of Sapecote and Isabel his wife and of the said Simon. said Simon and Isabel continued their joint seisin of the said manor death of the said Simon. manor is held of Alexander de Frevill and Joan his wife as belonging manor of Tameworth, by the service of a third part of a knight's fee to the court of Tameworth every three weeks and is of the yearly 10]. 4s. 8d. Grace Dieu on Friday before Easter 1 Edward III came to land coast of Normandy near La Dupe, when the said evildoers attacked Smyth, master of the ship, John Cade, a sailor, and others and killed took away the ship with her gear and goods of the said Hugh therein, and woolfels, and did their will therewith, whence the said Hugh to the value of 1,120/. commission. writ. taken before the same on the same day. de la Hurne and Richard Cockill of Southampton lately sent two ships to the parts of Normandy and Poitou to trade, one called of Southampton of 200 tons burden of the price of 1201. with the price of 80/., the other called la James of Portsmouth of 170 tons and of the price of 60/. with tackle of the price of 80. after Trinity the said ships came to land at la Boyn in Poitou, evildoers of the power of the King of France attacked John Alein, le Yonge and others (named), merchants and sailors, and killed them, burned and consumed the said ships and the goods of the said Roger therein, viz. salt, armour, beds, garments and chests, to the value whence the said Roger and Richard have damage to the value of 9001.
