Commitment to Thomas Thorp, by mainprise of Roger Philpot and Thomas Bourn, both of London, gentilmen , of the keeping (1) of a manor, called Botillers, in Bulmere, co. Essex, late of John Hunt, of late one of the collectors of the king's customs and subsidies in the port of Ipswich, who was bound to the king on the day of his death in 2911. 3s. 43d., in respect of the said customs and subsidies, and in other debts pertaining to the king, and (2) of a messuage in the town of Haddeley, co. Suffolk, late of William Hillary, of late a farmer of the subsidy and alnage of cloths for sale in the counties of Suffolk and Essex, who was indebted to the king in 1001. 7s. 8d. for the said farm ; to hold from Michaelmas last for as long as the premises shall remain in the king's hands, at a yearly farm of the 71. 13s. 4d. for which answer has been made to the king (to wit, 6/. 13s. 4d. for the said manor and 20s. for the said messuage), and an increment of 3s. 4d. ; with clause touching maintenance of houses, enclosures and buildings and support of charges ; and with proviso for the increase of the farm.
