Order to the escheator in the county of Gloucester and the adjacent march of Wales ; pursuant to an inquisition taken before William Denys, late escheator, showing that Robert Mattesdon on the day of his death held a fourth part of the manor of Kyngeshome by Gloucester, of the king in chief by service of an eighth part of a knight's fee, in his demesne as of fee tail, of the gift and feoffment lately made by Ellis Godeley to John de Albeney and Cecily his wife (ancestors of the said Robert) and to the heirs of John by Cecily, as by a fine levied in the king's court in the quinzaine of St, John Baptist 7. Edward III, before William . 225 Herle and his fellows, justices of the Bench, more fully appears ; that the said Robert died on the Thursday after the feast of Valentine the Martyr last without heir of his body ; and that wife of Walter Brokhampton esquire, John Thorp, Agnes John Adams and Emma wife of John Huyot, all of full are the kinsfolk and next heirs of the said Robert, to wit, the Isabel as daughter of Robert the son of Cecily one of the and heirs of the said John de Albeney by Cecily his wife the sister of Maud (another of the daughters and heirs of the John and Cecily) the mother of William the father of Nicholas father of the said Robert Mattesdon, the said John Thorp son of Isabel the daughter of Ellis the son of Isabel another the daughters and heirs of the said John de Albeney by Cecily wife, the said Agnes Basset as daughter of Margaret the of Eva the daughter of Christian another of the daughand heirs of the said John de Albeney by Cecily, the said John as son of Alice the second daughter of the said Eva, and said Emma wife of John Huyot as the third daughter of the Eva ; to take the fealty of the said Walter Brokhampton, Thorp, Agnes, John Adams and John Huyot, make a partiinto three equal parts, (a) of the fourth part of the said (in the presence of the said Walter and Isabel, John Thorp, John Adams, and John Huyot and Emma), and (6) of a part of the said fourth part (in the presence of the said Agnes, Adams, and John Huyot and Emma), and cause (a) the said and Isabel, and John Thorp to have fullseisin of the pourfalling to Isabel and John of two parts of the three parts and (5) the said Agnes, John Adams, and John Huyot Emma, to have full seisin of the pourparties falling to Agnes, Adams and Emma of the third part of the three parts of the fourth part ; as the king for mark paid in the hanaper has until Michaelmas next the homage of the said John Agnes and John Adams and the homage due from John by reason of his having issue by his said wife ; saving to late the wife of the said Robert Mattesdon her reasondower of the said fourth part.
