esquire, both of London, of the keeping of the of Corymalet, co. Somerset, which has come, or ought to to the king's hand by virtue of an act of resumption made authority of the Parliament begun at Westminster on 9 July (sic) ; to hold from Michaelmas last for 10 years, if the manor remain for so long in the king's hands, at a yearly farm of extent or as much as may be agreed upon between him and treasurer by Michaelmas next. Chester, gentilman, and John Maynesford of co. Kent, gentilman, of the keeping of two one (called Castelmede alias Le Grete Castelmede ) the said castle of Sandwich, and the other (called Castelalias Le Litel Castelmede ) below the said castle ; to the same, by whatever names they be known, from Michaellast for 30 years, rendering yearly by equal portions at and Michaelmas the 31s. 4d. for which answer has been to the king and an increment of 16d., and supporting all incumbent on the said meadows; with proviso for the of the farm. Somerset ; hold from Michaelmas last for 12 years, at a yearly farm of the 6s. 8d. for which answer has been made to the king and an of 4d.; with clause touching maintenance of houses, and buildings and support of charges. Dated ete. to the escheator in the county of Essex ; pursuant to inquisition taken before him showing among other things that Stokfyssh, chaplain, being lately seised in his demesne as fee of the manors of Walbury, Hassyngbroke and Fanges, with the advowsons of the parish churches of Stanford the Hope (appurtenant to the said manor of Hassyngbroke) Fanges, by his charter tripartite and indented conveyed the with licence of the king, to William Wetenhale (by name of Wetenhale, citizen, grocer and alderman of London), Olton, vicar of the church of Kirketon in Holand, co. and David Overton, chaplain, all deceased, to hold to and the heirs of the body of the said William Wetenhale, remainder to Thomas Swetenham and Thomas Clerke, of grocers, their heirs and assigns; and that the said Wetenhale survived the said David and David and so was seised of the premises on the day of his death in his demesne of fee tail; and that the manors aforesaid together with the . 191 advowsons aforesaid are held of the king in chief by service of a needle of silver of the price of 24d. ; and that William Wetenhale, son of the said William Wetenhale, is his next heir and of full age ; to cause the said William Wetenhale the son to have full seisin of the said manors and advowsons, as the king has taken the fealty due from him in this behalf and for other lands and tenements in the city of London.
