Commitment (with like proviso) to John Brewster, one of the clerks of the office of the privy seal, by mainprise of Alexander Sheffeld, esquire, and James Damport, esquire, both of London, of the keeping of (a) 12 acres of land, called Potteslond, in Ledered, co. Surrey, which are in the king's hand after the death of John Talman to whom the late king Edward by letters patent granted the land for life with reversion to the king and his heirs, (b) a plot of land in Oxoncroft in Ledered, containing 4 acres of land, late of Henry de Wolneston, which is in the king's hand because the said Henry, who held the land of the king in chief, alienated it to John his brother without licence from the king, and (c) [7 acres of land in Mikelham which are in the king's hand by reason of the trespass committed by John Cornemonger in acquiring them, without licence from the king, from] John Mikelham who held them of the king in chief; to hold from Michaelmas last for 40 years, at a yearly farm of the 6s. 6d. for which answer has been made to the king (to wit, 3s. 6d. for the said 12 acres of land called Pottesland, 12d. for the said plot of land in Oxoncrofte, and 2s. for the said 7 acres of land in Mikelham), and an increment of 2d.
