Order to the escheator in the county of Devon ; pursuant escheator, (before whom proof had been made of the age of Joan Dabernon wife of John Batyn, one of the daughters of Isabel one of the daughters of John Mulys and a kinswoman and one of the heirs of the said John Mulys who held of the king in chief on the day of his death), to take the fealty of the said John Batyn, make a partition into two equal parts (a) of all the lands of which the said John Mulys was seised in his demesne as of fee and of all the lands which he held by the courtesy of England after the death of Joan his first wife of the inheritance of William Gilbert the son and heir of Alice one of the daughters and heirs of the said Joan wife of John, and of the said Joan Dabernon and Elizabeth Dabernon the daughters and heirs of Isabel a second daughter and heir of Joan wife of John, and (b) of a moiety of all the lands aforesaid (in the presence of the said John Batyn and Joan his wife, of Otes Gilbert the farmer of the lands aforesaid, and of the next friends of the said William and Elizabeth), and cause the said John Batyn and Joan his wife to have full seisin of the pourparty of the said Joan, retaining the pourparties of the said William and Elizabeth in the king's hand until further order, with proviso that each of the heirs and parceners have a share of the lands which are held of the king in chief and so be the king's tenant ; and (2) to another order made on 29 November 29 Henry VI (before whom proof had been made of the age of the said Elizabeth, whom John Giffard had taken to wife) to take the fealty of the said John Giffard and cause him and Elizabeth to have full seisin of the pourparty of Elizabeth retained as aforesaid in the king's hand, the pourparty of the said William being retained in the king's hand until further order ; to take the fealty of Joan the sister and heir of the said William (who has lately died a minor in the king's ward) and one of the kinswomen and heirs of the said John Mulys and Joan his wife (to wit, the daughter of the said Alice one of the daughters of the said John . Mulys and Joan his wife), and deliver to her the pourparty of William which has been retained, as aforesaid, in the king's hand ; as the king for 4 mark paid in the hanaper has respited her homage until Michaelmas next. ;
