Commitment to Thomas Clyfford, knight, and Walter Calverley, mainprise of William Bradford of the county of gentilman, and William Marshall of Roundhawe, co. gentilman, of the subsidy and alnage of cloths for sale the counties of York and Kyngeston upon Hull, and precincts of the same, and within the city and suburbs of ; to hold, with all manner of forfeitures of the said cloths sale, from 1 February last for 40 years at a yearly farm of marks ; with proviso that the said Thomas and Walter and assigns have due allowance in respect of any grant made the king to any person from the said farm ; and appointment the said Thomas and Walter in person or by deputy to measure cloths and pieces of cloth for sale in the said counties and city they are exposed for sale or taken out of the said counties city, seal the same with the appointed seal, levy and collect the seller the moneys forthcoming from such alnage and also subsidy aforesaid in respect of all cloths and pieces of cloth measured and sealed, search houses, shops and other places the said counties and city where such cloths and pieces of can be found, and take and retain in their own hands as all unsealed cloths and pieces of cloth exposed for sale, and all things contained in the statutes touching such cloths for according to the form of the same : as Henry Banastre, the serjeant, to the intent that the king might deign to grant said subsidy and alnage to the said Thomas and Walter and assigns, in form aforesaid, has surrendered into the Chancery cancellation the letters patent of 2 July last past, whereby the committed the said subsidy and alnage, together with a of the forfeiture, to him from the feast of St. Peter ad last past for 20 years, at a yearly farm of 115 marks 49 above].
