Order to the escheator in the county of Leicester ; pursuant to an inquisition made by him, showing that Richard Hastinges, knight, was seised in his demesne as of fee on the day of his death of the manors of Newton Harecourt and Wystowe ; 2 messuages and 2 virgates of land in Brantyngthorp, and the advowson of the church of St. Nicholas of the same town; a messuage and 2 virgates of land in Glenne Magna, 2 cottages, and a view of frankpledge and a court baron pertaining to the said manor of Wystowe ; a messuage and 2 virgates of land in Appelby; a site of a mill in Ravenston ; 8 messuages and 14 virgates of land in Braunston, 12 acres of meadow, a small close called Le Parrok , a wood called Braunston Wode , and 2 crofts; 3 messuages and 10 virgates of land in Kerby, 8 acres of meadow, 3 cottages, a croft called Whet Croft , a small parcel of wood called Le Golete , and 6s. of rent of assize ; 3 crofts in Leycestre ; 4 acres of land in Brunkyngthorp; and 8 messuages and 13 virgates of land in Assheby Parva, 6 acres of meadow, 5s. 53d. of rent of assize there, and 4 tofts; and that the said manor of Newton Harecourt is held of the king in socage by service of a pair of gilt spurs for all services, and the rest of the premises of others than the king ; and that Leonard Hastynges is the brother and next heir of Richard and 40 years of age and more ; to cause the said Leonard to have full seisin of the said manor of Newton Harecourt, as the king has taken his fealty, saving to Elizabeth late the wife of Richard her reasonable dower thereof ; the king's hand from the rest of the premises, if they in the king's hand by the death of Richard and for no other and delivering to Leonard any issues taken therefrom the time of the death of Richard.
