Commitment (with like clause) to William Phelip, knight, by mainprise of Reynold Rous and John Heydon, of the keeping of all the lands in the counties of Norfolk and Suffolk, late of John Shelton, esquire, who held of the king in chief on the day of his death; to hold the same from the time of the death of the said John until the full age of Ralph his son and heir, together with the marriage of the said heir, rendering for the said keeping the extent thereof, or as much as may be agreed upon between him and the treasurer by Easter next, paying for the marriage as much as may likewise be agreed upon, and finding fit maintenance for the said heir; as the said William has surrendered into the Chancery for cancellation the letters patent of 17 August last [p. 49, above], whereby the king committed to him the keeping of all the lands late of the said John Shelton, to hold the same from the time of the death of the said John until the full age of the said heir at a yearly farm of the extent thereof or as much as might be agreed upon between him and the treasurer by the feast of All Saints then next to come, no agreement having been made between him and the treasurer.
