Order to the escheator in the county of Somerset ; pursuant to an inquisition made by him showing that John Radeston, John Raynald parson of the church of Lymyngton, Henry Andreu parson of the church of Lewenston, Roger Carter parson of the church of Wotton Fitz Payn, John Passeware parson of the church of Compton Hawe, John Humfre vicar of the church of Chuton, Nicholas Yve of Westkyngton, Andrew Ridon, William Walssh, John Prestes, William Longe of Axmynstre, Henry Wotton, Thomas Brokhampton, Thomas Saundre and William Lange, being lately seised in their demesne as of fee of the manor of Thurlebere, co. Somerset, granted the said manor, which they lately had of the feoffment of William de Monte Acuto late earl of Salisbury and William Boneville knight, with licence from the king, to the said William Boneville and Margaret his wife to hold the same in survivorship, of the king and his heirs by the services due, with remainder to Thomas (son of the said William Boneville and Margaret) and Cecily [his wife] (late the wife of William Cheyne, knight, deceased) and the heirs male of the body of Thomas, and with remainder over to the right heirs of the said William Boneville ; and that the said William Boneville and Margaret were seised of the said manor in their demesne as of free tenement by virtue of the said grant ; and that afterwards William Boneville died, and Margaret likewise died, after whose deaths the said Thomas the son and Cecily entered into the manor by virtue of their remainder and were seised thereof ; and that afterwards Thomas died without heir male of his body, and of the body of Cecily ; and that Cecily survived him and continued her possession in the manor and died seised thereof; after whose death the manor descended by virtue of the remainder to William Boneville knight (son of John Boneville), who is of full age, as kinsman and heir of the aforesaid William Boneville knight, to wit, son of John the son and heir of the aforesaid William Boneville knight ; and that the manor is held of the king in chief by service of a fourth part of a knight's fee ; to take the fealty of the said William Boneville the son and cause him to have full seisin of the . 33 manor, which has been taken into the king's hand by the of the said Cecily, as the king for 20s. paid in the hanaper respited his homage until Christmas next.
