Commitment to Robert Turnay of Asshelegh, by mainprise of Thomas Longe of the county of Somerset and Thomas Marcharlle of London, of the keeping of (1) 15 acres of land in Batecombe, co. Somerset, which are in the king's hand by the exile of the Jews, (2) a messuage, half a virgate of land, half an acre of meadow - and two cottages in Erlestoke, co. Wilts, which are held of John Mountagu, chivaler, by service of 9s. a year and which are in the king's hand by reason of the idiocy of Robert son and heir of Roger Justice, (3) a burgage in Crikkelade, co. Wilts, which William Countas of Crikelade held on the day of his death and devised to the perpetual vicar of Crikelade without the king's licence, and which is in the king's hand by reason of the said Wt. 27611. F. 15. devise, and (4) a parcel of dry and mountain meadow lying in Assheton Mede within the parish of Assheton by Crikelade, co. Wilts, containing 20 acres, which Thomas Ralegh held on the day of his death in socage of the earl of Gloucester as of the manor of Shernecote (by what service is unknown), and which remain in the king's hand by the death of the said Thomas ; to hold the same from Michaelmas last for as long as the premises shall remain in the king's hand for the causes aforesaid, rendering 26s., to wit, 15s. for (1), 2s. for (2), 12d. for (3) and 8s. for (4), the sum accounted for by the sheriff of the county, and an increment of 4s., yearly by equal portions at the Easter and Michaelmas Exchequers, and maintaining the houses and buildings, and all other charges incumbent on the said lands, messuage, cottages, burgage and meadow.
