Order to William Bisshopdale, mayor of the town of Newcastleupon-Tyne and escheator therein, pursuant to an inquisition taken before Sampson Hardyng and John de Bridlington by virtue of the king's commission shewing that Alice, daughter and heir of John del Chaumbre, tenant of the king in chief, held in her demesne as of fee on the day of her death the following tenements etc. in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, to wit, (1) a messuage with two shops wherein John her father dwelt, a yearly rent of 2 marks issuing from a tenement wherein Maud de Cotum dwells, a messuage wherein John Sharp, littester, dwells, a yearly rent of 13s. 4d., issuing from a messuage wherein Thomas de Corbrig dwelt, a messuage by the house of the Friars Preachers, a yearly rent of 30d. issuing from a tenement in Sidgate which Robert Daunt holds, a yearly rent of 5s. issuing from a tenement in Sidgate which Walter Heron held, 2 messuages by La Maudeleyns, 2 tenements with 2 selions of land outside Pilgrimstreteyate with a windmill, 12 acres of leys outside Pilgrimstretyate, a yearly rent of 30s. issuing from a tenement outside Pilgrimstretyate wherein William Wetewang dwelt, a tenement at La Denbrighend, a tenement on La Peynturhugh with 3 small houses lying there, a yearly rent of 17s. issuing from a tenement which Thomas Clerk of Alnewyk holds, a tenement which once belonged to Adam de Esple, 2 tenements opposite Adam's said tenement, 5 messuages on La Burnbank, a yearly rent of 4 marks issuing from a tenement which once belonged to John Plummer, a messuage in Lumscher, a messuage called La Taverne with other houses and 3 shops, a messuage in La Cloos, a messuage with 2 shops in La Side wherein William Redmerhill dwells, a messuage in the churchyard of St. Nicholas, 4 shops on Ratunrawe, 3 shops wherein Nicholas Kandeler and Alice de Well dwelt, 3 shops in La Skynnergate, a shop wherein William Hunmanby dwells, 2 shops in La Fleswergate, a yearly rent of 10s. in La Pollidhall, a yearly rent of 20s. issuing from a tenement wherein Master Stephen Hesilbiche dwells, a yearly rent of 13s. 4d. issuing from a tenement adjoining the said Stephen's tenement, a garden which once belonged to Adam de Espelee with a decayed watermill, and a garden by La Westyate of the king in free burgage, and (2) a messuage with 10 shops at La Castelyate of the king by the service of rendering 12d. for castle-guard, and that she died on 14 October, 9 Richard II, and that Thomas de Heryngton and William Redmershill occupied the lands etc. from the time of her death until the day of the taking of the said inquisition, and that Katharine de Moston, . 79 who is full age of, is her kinswoman and next heir, to wit, the daughter of Isabel the sister of the abovementioned John del Chaumbre, her father, to take the premises into the king's hand and answer to the king therefor, as it was found by the same inquisition that she held in her demesne as of fee 5 acres of land called Sandifordflat within Gesmouth with a derelict windmill of the king in chief by knight service, so that the keeping of all the abovementioned premises pertains to the king by reason of his prerogative. : By C.
