Commitment to Richard earl of Arundel and brother Hugh Veretot, monk of the abbey of Fécamp in Normandy, by mainprise of William Ryse of the county of Norfolk and Robert Leukenore of the county of Oxford, of the keeping of all the lands and possessions in England of the alien abbot of Fécamp, (except the manors of Sloghtre and Chiltenham, co. Gloucester, which are in the hands of Simon de Burle, chivaler, and the manor of Bury, co. Sussex, which is in the hands of the said earl), to hold the same from Michaelmas last for as long as the lands shall remain in the king's hand on account of the war with France, rendering 2001. yearly at the Exchequer by equal portions at Easter and Michaelmas, as brother Philip Ranulphi, the last proctor of the said abbot in England, rendered, and 201. yearly as increment, and also maintaining the houses and buildings pertaining to the said lands, and doing the divine services, alms, and other works of piety anciently ordained there ; provided nevertheless that they be quit and discharged of tenths, fifteenths, and all other quotas which may henceforth be granted to the king by the clergy or commons of the realm, and of guarding the sea-coast and all other charges concerning the said lands.
