Commission to John Mauduyt, sheriff of Wilts, Robert Selyman and Robert de Wodeford, reciting that in the grant of 450 sacks of . 327 which the king's ministers and officers of the said county made a fine for pardon of all trespasses, extortions, oppressions and committed by them in their offices and for purchases and of wool below the price of Notyngham ordained of late, contrary king's proclamation thereon, before Robert Parvyng and his justices of oyer and terminer in that county, it was agreed the said justices and ministers that each minister and officer said county be assessed reasonably to pay his portion of the wools according to the extent of his trespasses and means, and the wools be paid within such a time that the king can have them the advantage of the subsidy now current, and that in the and levying of the said wools delay be allowed to poor and men, even if they be ministers, so that nothing be exacted merchants who have not 10 marks in goods or from others who not 40s. of land or rent, or from townships or communities or those who have not transgressed in their offices, and that by said fine only the trespasses, extortions, oppressions and excesses be and not money due to the king or levied to the king's use, that if any man alleges that he has not transgressed or complains an excessive portion of the wools has been assessed upon him is ready to stand to right thereon, he shall be heard and enquiry thereon forthwith, as appears in the said agreement, the whereof the king has caused to be brought before him in ; and reciting further that those who were chosen and sworn and apportion the said fine by the said ministers and officers the said justices, have assessed a portion of the said wools certain townships and collectors without mentioning the names persons who are bound to pay the same by reason of their and offences, contrary to the said agreement, as appears by estreats of apportionment and assessment delivered into Chancery the said justices, which the king is sending to the aforesaid under the foot of his seal: and appointing them to all portions of the said wools contained in the estreats, to wit, portions assessed upon persons by name from those assessed and all portions assessed on townships and collectors without names from the assessors and apportioners thereof, unless deliver definite names of ministers who ought to be charged ; so that answer be made to the king of all the wools at his order; the king having ordered bailiffs and ministers others to be intendant.
