Commitment to the king's clerk, Master John de Ufford, at his instant request, that the goods and chattels of the alien abbot of Cluny in the counties of Huntingdon and Rutland be not wasted by the occupation of another, of the lands, goods and chattels of the abbot in those counties, to hold so long as they remain in the king's hand during the war with France, saving to the king knights fees and advowsons of churches, he rendering yearly at the Exchequer or elsewhere at the king's order 50 marks at Easter and Michaelmas by equal portions, the first term beginning at Easter next, for payment whereof he has found as mainpernors John de Laysthorp, parson of the church of Overe, in the diocese of Ely, and John Edward, parson of the church of Offord, in the same diocese ; the keeping of which lands the king committed to him as the abbot's proctor as above p. 35] and which the king afterwards restored to him [p. 177]; the king, by advice of the council, having thought fit to resume the said lands etc. as above [p. 258].
