to Laurence le Clerk, proctor of the abbess of Gynes, whom the king committed during pleasure the keeping of the lands, and chattels of the abbess in England, taken into the king's among the other priories and lands of alien religious of the power France in England by reason of the war with the French, for marks yearly as above [p. 35], and whom afterwards, with other religious in England and having possessions therein, the king, that the lands, goods and chattels aforesaid could be extended a greater value beyond the charges incumbent thereon, summoned the council to inform the same thereupon and to do what should ordained by the king and council, whereupon the proctor appeared the council and asserted that he would render 40 marks yearly 10 marks of increment during the war, so that he could be meanwhile from other undue exactions, charges and and prayed the king to commit the keeping to him, and as mainpernors Thomas de Enebrok, William Weyte, Michael Pende, Roger Taillour, John Lambert, son of Richard Lambert, Lambert, his brother, Henry Fullere, Thomas Cley, John the younger and Andrew Baldewyne of the county of the keeping of the lands, goods and chattels, churches, pensions, portions and all other things and possessions belong the abbess in England, that the same be not hurt or otherwasted by the occupation of another, to hold so long as the war and the same remain in the king's hand, saving to the king fees and advowsons of churches, rendering yearly at the or elsewhere at the king's order 50 marks at Easter and by equal portions, the first term beginning at Easter Grant also to him that he be quit of tenths etc. as above [last but one].
