Order to the escheator beyond Trent, pursuant to an inquisition by him shewing that Anthony, late bishop of Durham, held for two parts of the manor of Midhurst and a moiety of the manor Forde, co. Sussex, of the feoffment of Thomas, sometime bishop St. Davids, and that the premises ought to remain by virtue of that to John son of James de Bohun, but that it is unknown John is alive or dead, and that the premises are held by service of Edmund, earl of Arundel, who has asserted before council that the keeping of the premises should pertain to him reason of the said service and sued livery thereof, to take from the said earl for answering to the king for the issues the premises, if the keeping thereof ought to pertain to the king, to deliver the same to him until further order by the king and the king understanding that the said keeping ought to to the king, but being unwilling to prejudice the earl in any touching his right.
