Commission to Edmund de Eyncurt, William de Cressy and Thomas de Burnham to make inquisition in the counties of Lincoln, Nottingham and Derby touching the evildoers who wander throughout those counties committing homicides, plunderings and other damages night and day, and touching their receivers and adherents, and touching those who have made and make a pact with such for gifts and have led and lead them to beat, wound, illtreat and kill many of the realm in markets, fairs and other places in those counties for envy, hatred and malice and because they have been put on assizes, juries, recognitions and inquisitions of felonies and have spoken the truth, whereby jurors have not dared to speak the truth for fear of such evildoers, and touching those who have given gifts and to whom, and who maintain the said evildoers, and with the sheriffs to arrest and commit them to prison, and to keep their goods until further order ; the king having ordered the sheriffs to summon juries, and the commons of the said counties to be intendant herein.
